The civil aviation is designed to meet the needs of the airport in 2025 with annual passenger throughput of 2 million person times, annual cargo throughput of 11000 tons, and aircraft take-off and landing of 25157 sorties. The grade index of flight area is 4C, and the runway is 2600m long and 45m wide; The terminal building is 24000 square meters, and there are 13 parking stands on the apron; the supporting facilities include communication, navigation, meteorology, oil supply, freight transportation, fire rescue, etc.
The relocation project of Yibin airport was officially launched in 2008. It was approved by the State Council and the Central Military Commission in May 2012. The construction was started in January 2016, fully completed in July 2019, and officially put into operation on December 5, 2019.
